Why Recycle Electrical items?

Recycling is one of the safest way of disposing faulty or unwanted electrical items. From appliances with plugs to batteries. The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive was introduced in 2007 with regards to how these electrical items are recycled and yet the UK still only recycles about a third of them.

Our appliances contain a range of materials that can be separated and reused as well as materials including gold a copper.

You can check out with your local council what is recyclable in your local area or you can use a recycling area. For businesses there are companies that collect or you can check here.

If you can answer ‘yes’ to any of the following questions, then your electrical item can be recycled:

  • Does it have a plug?

  • Does it use a charger?

  • Does it use batteries?

  • Does it carry the WEEE wheelie bin logo (see below)?

Under the terms of the WEEE directive, all retailers must provide a way for customers to dispose of their unwanted electrical and electronic equipment when they sell them a new version of the same item, either through a collection service or a store take-back scheme.

At Premium Services we Install, repair, replace and more.
